all I wanted to say is I get the recursive nature of your joke Very Happy hope you got me right Smile

anyway, do you think there's a chance to do some sort of basic tutorials on how to accomplish things by using the nord lead? just some basic stuff - where to start when creating a bass, lead, strings, whatever...

I did some investigations on the machine which findings are worthwhile to write about. I would say, let's start Smile I think we should start a new thread about it.

We could leave out the NordLead1 and you can do the results on the 2X to verify...

FAILURE Sad

Set the cables to NORD, set the perf bank a9, used the midi OX and used the send sysex command after loading your file. Displays shows file sent but the nord perfromance is unchanged.

I'm using m-audio interface for midi - which works cuz I used the nord to trigger software before and I also was able to dump file from nord via midi-ox.

Damn it. Why couldn't CLAVIA just use a stupid USB port? Does it cheapen the product somehow.

I don't think my sequencer MPC500 can send midi files, I went thru the whole manual no mention of that.

I guess I will have go to the store and ask if I can dump right from the nord itself.

You're sure there is a cable from m-audio Midi Out to synth Midi IN? Did you send Patches to the synth before and did it work out?

Which file did you send using Midi-OX? The 1-A9.mid file? This should work. The SysEx files you have to send to a Program location each, not to performance! When both are saved in Program mode, go to Performance location 1-A9, press and hold button SlotA and scroll to the first saved Program and release the button. The same for SlotB, but scroll to the other one. Then save 1-A9...

See my remark in the new thread (tips and tricks in the NordLead2X) about 1995...

At first glance it looks like a normal Performance file...

Only the synth refuses to recognize it...
I'll have to admit I never had any success using Midi-OX other then looking at the Midi in text and the fact the program claimed all the MidiPorts, so I have to set all other Midi tools back to their Midi...

But there are a lot of people using it with much pleasure, but such things are normal in computerland Confused

Last option, but a nasty one. If press [Shift+LFO1-Wave (that is the left button)] and you turn any knob, does the LCD screen reads its value?
If so, I'll send you all parameters, you open 1-A9 and change all to the right values... Then save it...

At least you'll learn something on the way Very Happy

Assuming [Shift+LFO1] works, here are the parameters.

Read it.
Go to Performance 1-A9 and be sure only Slot A and B are lit (If more, press all until just one lits and press Slot A and B)

First press Slot A till it blinks.
Then press [Shift+LFO1] and turn LFO Rate and set it to the desired value.
Go through all knobs (only 25!)
Then activate Slot B and do the same here. You can leave alone [Shift+LFO1], it won't affect anything.

When done leave [Shift+LFO1] and check the sound!!!

Save it!

Please tell us about any results...

Wout

So you basically would want me to recreate that performance patch from the programs...

Shocked I gotta tell you I played rock for on my guitars for 15 years, in the past 6 months I was learned to use my MPC, some basic keyboard stuff - like appreggios and stuff, and I'm programming my POD X3 - but that's as much as my guitarist brain can handle Laughing

thanks so much for help you guys, I actually took the easy way out - per your advice I took the nord to local music shop and dump the performance right in to my keys.... IT WAS SO EASY !!!!!!!!!

I wish I had the money for a 2nd keyboard to do this... Maybe I should save up the wave (that one has the USB !)

Thanks again !

Before I go, two more questions

1. I also have Alesis Micron, do you know if I can store midi files in there?

2. I have Analog Factory which has some sweet patches, is there any way to use those in Nord leads 2x???
