differential distortion seq pch Subject description: update chapter audio |
 |
|
when writing SL II, i came up witch this pch addon for SL I chapter audio.
this is a differential distortion, caused by feedbacked ring modulation.
I added a sequencer to it for fun. after loading, gently adjust the controls. Last edited by Roland Kuit on Sat Jan 05, 2013 10:08 am; edited 1 time in total |

Roland, with your new download, is there a single download that can be overlayed on top of the soundlab to get all the new patches & updates at once?
it's been quiet here, but only because I'm in front of the Nord more often now! |

A quick review so far:
The file arrived on a blank looking CD but after sticking it in the drive I was greeted with a smart looking front end and accompanying sound effects. Using clickable links you can find your way around the different sections very easily and patches can also be opened by clicking on the pictures of them. Some of the patches didn’t seem to load so I tried opening it up in Firefox instead of explorer and all seemed to work fine. Odd, not sure if this is a bug with my computer settings in explorer, windows or something else but from this point on I used firefox as it always managed to link to open the patches where as explorer seemed to be a bit more hit and miss.
The guide itself is nicely laid out and each section has a good introduction. That said I am ashamed to admit I haven’t looked at it all yet but have had a few good sessions with the Basic synthesis I and II, the sample and hold section and the audio processing section. I have also had a brief look at the programming house and techno sections and logic sections. Each of the sections follows the same basic format of describing the area in some detail, providing pictures of patches (which can then be clicked on to open them) and then each patch is followed up by more detail and the patches get progressively complex and busy as you work your way through the examples.
The sections so far:
Basic Synthesis I & II
These bits seemed to be particularly well put together and although I didn’t really need much of it, as I am quite comfortable with the different synthesis methods, I still found a few things I had either never thought of, never heard or both.
Sample and Hold
This bit was brilliant, I really need to take another look at it as I am sure I have already forgotten a lot of it. Sample and Hold is probably one of my favourite modules as it can help you make something really interesting with just a few patches. Despite this being an area I spend a lot of time experimenting with anyway this section still provided me with plenty of things I had never tried and alternative ways of doing things I have.
Audio Processing
I thought this section could be a bit better, whilst it is nicely laid out and does have some good ideas, I felt there could be more on building custom delay units, chorus, flangers etc. That said I don’t particularly love the Nord as an audio processor, I think this may have something to do with the 16bit delay modules and their inherent flaws.
The other sections
As I said above I have only briefly looked at some of the others but they seem to be in a similar vain and calibre of the S&H and Basic Synthesis sections. Providing interesting and alternative ways of achieving things you probably do or want to.
Overall
The layout and focus on simple ideas that build up into complex patches and much more complex ideas over the course of each section works really well. The guide seems logical and methodical and still manages to be very creative. I did have a problem with a scratch on my disc that meant some of the videos didn’t work properly when I opened them, so I emailed Roland and was promptly sent replacements via the t-interweb, so support is also first class. The Basic synthesis chapters are a god send for someone knew to modular synthesis and looking for a way to get into it quickly. I would definitely recommend this guide to new or relatively experienced modular users. _________________ iP (Ross)

After this coming weekend, SoundLab I is out of my hands. It still can be ordered from the new website that is under construction by my agent. I don't know the new price yet. SoundLab II will consist out 4 interactive e-books with online video's.
Furthermore, I hope for you who've got it, it has been/is a fun and learning process and reference manual. |

Greetings all and hello Roland!
I don't know if you remember me from back in the Analogue Heaven and Nord Modular days. I feel like I've known you for some time!
I've recently upgraded from my NM 1 to a G2X (kept the NM 1 too!) and am REALLY interested in getting a hold of the tutorials you've had for sale.
Is there anyway to still get them from you as it appears the new website is a few months behind schedule? I'm so eager because we're hitting the holiday times in the US and I'll have some large chunks of free time that I can dedicate to working with this new system.
Thanks in advance for your help, and kindest regards,
Leslie Rollins

Roland Kuit's G2 tutorial Subject description: I'm waiting the tutorial. |

Hello Roland,
I've ordered a month ago a G2x tutorial. I've paid with paypal the amount that is requested on your website. Even if the website is no longer valid, the link to paypal is valid. I sent you several emails that remain unanswered. I use the forum to ask you to send me the tutorial or reimburse me.
Thanks
Sorry for my english |

Try to PM or mail him, because after some weeks Roland is active again on the Dutch internet, so you should be able to reach him!

Yes of course, I was enthusiastic in acquiring your product after informing about it, and now i lack the courage to trust you at all after your vague response and paypal atitude
Will might still make an order in the future , but with lack of courage, i could have to speak by phone or visit you to place the order.. |
