All these circuits are briliant. What is the reason thet the 3080 ota is seen so often?
Its hard to get/expensive. Would half a LM13700 work as well in circuits like the VCO1 or UD1?

No need to change any surounding circuitry? Same performance in the vco? I know what to do with the other half...

The next itteration of hte UD-1 board can place a footprint to use this chip instead along side the CA3080 if folks are interested. This way, if they have the LM13700, they can use it. I am working on getting a supply of "cheap" CA/LM 3080 chips so hang tight.

I have got a nice supply of the SN76477 chips and now working on getting cheap XR2206 and the 3080's mentioned about.

When you get a supply of the 3080 OTA, I'm definately interested in some. I need at least 1 for the TH-301 "Cucamonga".

I'd also be interested in cheap XR2206s

Thanks,

Andy

The 3080 only became scarce fairly recently, so many synth people have just had tubes of them around for years. And many projects did and still do use them. It's a case of what we call: "not recommended for new designs"! When I bought mine, they weren't expensive - but once I run out of those... So I save them for repairs or special projects. For most purposes I can use a 13600 and it's fine. Use the spare OTA to add an extra VCA, or VC res to a filter. It needn't go to waste!

in the part list for VCO-1 it says only 3080 OTA, but if you search
for the complete partname CA3080 you will find plenty on ebay.

You can try looking for "LM3080" also.
