Hi,

As I am having difficulties obtaining a 2n2 polystyrene, can I use a 5% silver mica instead and achieve the same results?

it will still work, use what you have for now....until you can get some polys.

Based on your comment, I understand there is no substitute for polystyrene if I want the best results from the circuit.

I am no expert on caps (or anything really Smile )
but polys do seem to be the cap of choice for this duty.

That being said, I have used all kinds of caps in my CGS VCOs, except ceramic. They all perform about the same for my noisy purposes.

you could ask bridechamber or elby deisgns as they both sell kits for the cgs vco. i have also found polystrene caps on ebay for a really good price, only problem i forget the store name :/.
