Hello, new to the forum and am into electronic dance music. Looked up building your own synth on google today, found this and am quite impressed by what can be done! Smile

Need help doing something really really simple though... all I want is a good PIC chip to handle a number of small audio files in its EEPROM and output that to a piezo speaker(s).

Will an 8-bit mcu work to handle the memory sizes needed to accomplish this? What series is best?

Not trying to make a synth, just play wavs at low encodings (btw how low??)

Hi ClearWaterNW,

It's not a PIC, but an Arduino + ladyada's Wave Shield will do what you want:

Thanks,

looks interesting enough that I might start on that one!

Still want to ask if anyone knows how to download a file of audio to the eeprom of a pic chip tho? I need to get ahold of MPLAB again to see, but I'm sure there must be a way to download files onto the PIC.
