hey gang. sorry this is my first post, but google led me here. so blame them!

i need an AD821 transistor pair for my Octave Cat. Apparently VCO one is locked at the high frequency and we've traced it to this part.
Does anyone have one (or a few?)... name your price!

i'll pay cash/paypal/visa/whatever.
anything to bring my beloved Octave Cat back to life!

Unfortunately I don't know anything about the Cat, but I can tell you that this matched transistor is long, long gone. I have never even seen any anywhere, at any price. Analog Devices offers the MAT02 (NPN) and MAT03 (PNP) - sorry I can't remember which the 821 is at the moment - for all of your precision matched pair needs. I believe that the MAT parts are cans which can be used as direct replacements, maybe just a little trimming required. No sense in spending megabucks for a transistor pair which has long been outclassed. SSM or that pairs could do, as well.

The MATs can be expensive. You can get a Linear Systems LS351 or LS352 from their distributors for around $5.00 each (last time I looked). Good luck to the CAT!

I got five AD822s NOS from work years ago. Never felt the heat of a soldering iron. They are matched transistor pairs but I do not know how they are different from AD821s. A google search brings up nothing except the Analog Device opamp of the same name.
