As with the others so far, I am SO sorry for the mess up that occurred!! Surprised Surprised Today is the 2nd day now that it's been running with NO problems! RFeng, RichardC64 and Slacker have been logging in / posting with no more problems! Very Happy

I can't know WHAT it was for sure, but I do have 2 theories posted in the General Discussion section in the BB.

Also, 2 days ago after I restored the Database from my last (May 21st) backup, ALL messages between then and 2 days ago were LOST. Sad Sad At least everything before was saved / restored. I'm now, backing up EVERY day to never loose that much again.

Again I'm sorry for those troubles! Give it a go again and there should now, not be any more troubles! Surprised Smile

Thankee muchlee Jan! Smile

The strongest possibility just occurred to my girlfriend the other day. Approximately a month ago, there were a thunderstorm here that caused a brief 'brown out', which wiped out my computer's hard drive's directory. I had to install Win XP on a 2nd HD to get running again. By chance, hooking up the original HD again, the new XP found a problem on it and FIXed it. Original HD, now working properly.

With my limited knowledge as to the functionality of phpbb - could IT (from my machine) have been dealing with the install at my web server's space? Thereby causing a trouble with the database?

When I did a backup restore 2 days ago (from my last backup then, which was May 21st), everything came back to normal - with the exception of having lost ALL of the messages from that date up until 2 days ago.

No-one else has had the 'banned' troubles since then though and it looks like it's purring away happily with everybody.

Do you think that the 'brown out' effecting this computer, could have caused that problem?? (Disturbing the database.)

Thanks for any thoughts on that. I know that you chaps here, know 1 heck of a lot more'n I do! Surprised Smile

Thanks as well for your wishes! Smile Over the last couple of days, I've come to see just HOW severely I was missing the entire interest! Surprised Surprised Smile

Doesnt seem likely ... but your log files could tell you maybe ... without looking it could be anything, a glitch, someone breaking in, the tooth fairy even Laughing

Bugger. Sad So then, it's back to a complete mystery as to why it happened. Sad

I just checked the Admin. Log now and yes it goes back to the 11th when I did the restore, showing it on that day as well as the Restore's date of May 21st. The next entry before that NOW, is May 17th. The log was lost as well.

Oh well. I'll just continue backing everything up every day in case anything else ever happens.

Thanks for your thoughts Jan. Appreciated. Smile
