Welcome to this important forum |
 |
|
I'm trying to work out the best method to have online discussions in order to build the electro-music.com community. I have installed on the server two software solutions:
mailman - a mailing list manager
phpBB - this web forum system.
This software, phpBB, is pretty fancy. In doing research on web software, I've loaded and evaluated many open-source programs. Every program uses a forum as the primary means of communication amoung the developers and the users. My impression is that most people working on open source hate mailing lists. phpBB is the most popular forum software, by far.
I'd like to see what you think. Please share your thoughts. What catagories should we have? How do you like this particular software?
Let's give this a shot and see what happens.
I've talked to all of you privately, and every one is enthusiastic and has great ideas. But this phpBB system may be a better way to communicate, expecially when we want to build a community. _________________ --Howard

Howard, I passed the invitation to join the forum to my son Robb (now in NYC w/Virage) who is as impressed with the site as I am. I believe this will empower us to do e-commerce. _________________ Robin Miller |

php rules! on the user end at least, haven't attempted to apply it.
Steep learning curve for this?
I've got electro-music linked in Headtones Online Radio and links guide.
http://www31.brinkster.com/headtones/
Click the reading icon in the left margin> drop down menu>
"Discussion:...bboard forums...." category.
I don't know if anyone checks it out but, just in case
Still new and lurking here but am enjoying so far.
Thanks for the temp fix on linking Headtones, Sir Howard.
Best wishes for your site and your music! _________________ Power On,
