Ribbon Controller help |
|
|
I've started building a ribbon controller and I've run into a large problem.
I'm using a softpot for the control surface and an Gakken SX-150 for the sound.
The problem I'm having is that the SX-150's pitch doesn't stay consistent. I'll play the lowest note and it'll be around an E. Then I come back the next day to play it again and it's now an F. It keeps getting sharper until around a G and then falls back to E.
I want to make notches were the notes are so it will be easier to play in tune and remember where the notes even are, but if they keep moving then I can't do that.
I'm thinking I need to just use a different sound source, any ideas?
Thanks for any help or ideas.

All views and no help?
Surely there's someone out there that can help. |

You need to post more information. Specifically, what is the ribbon interface? How are you connecting it to the Gakken SX-150? Do you have any detailed information on the Gakken SX-150 that can help?

Here is a link to the ribbon interface

As for connecting it, I took the stylus and ribbon off the actual instrument and connect the three cords with the first three pins in a female cat-5 plug. Then I soldered the three pins on the softpot to the matching wires for the first three pins. The other end of the cat-5 cable has a normal plug that plugs into the female end on the SX-150.
As for any info on the Gakken SX-150, I don't have much. I know it's a pretty cheap instrument so I'm not surprised by having problems, but I'd like to make sure it's not something I'm doing.
I would gladly take other suggestions as too a new synth that would be compatible with the softpot. |
