Moog Etherwave Theremin mod |
|
|
I built Moog's Etherwave Theremin DIY kit, which came with a pre-populated circuit board and all included parts and pieces. It's completed and works, but the pitch range is only about 18" from the antenna and should be about a full arm's length. I noticed sometimes when it's been on, the range will increase a bit. Not sure if it needs to warm up or what. I get the feeling the wires they included are junk, and may replace them. There is a pot to control pitch, but I have it turned all the way down and it's still not as low as I'd to get it. Now, I'm still pretty new to the DIY stuff, but does it make sense to reduce the resistance leading to the pitch pot to get a lower range? Does it make sense that that might also increase the range? Thanks for any help. |

You just need to adjust the coil -- suggest you work with the rightmost coil to improve the pitch range.
This is kind of difficult because as soon as you put the lid back on the pitch changes. My solution is to mimimize this by turning the lid upside down and setting it on top of the theremin while adjusting the coil.
You will need to use the coil tool -- there should be one with the theremin (a red plastic tool).
Where are you located? If you are within a stone's throw of Kansas City I'd be happy to show you this.
.... edit ...
You are in New Jersey -- contact Kip Rosser -- he can show you how to adjust your Etherwave. _________________ -- Kevin
