Hey, i want to start getting into remixing original songs and then giving them and electro/house vibe, just wondering where should i start? such as what software/equiptment i will need. (i dont want to make my own electro music, just remix original songs)

Example of what i want to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSo_RkH0ak0

Howdy!
What platform are you using (Mac, Win, Linux)? Do you have a DAW (digital audio workstation; i.e. Cubase, Protools, Live, etc.)? There are cheap versions bundled with MIDI controllers/keyboards so, you might want to look into that. Instead you may want to try Audacity which is free. Check Don't Crack for more freeware. Try all the software you can until you feel comfortable with one. You'll learn a lot along the way Wink

Hey, yeah i'm using Windows, i'd rather try some free stuff first just to learn the basics, i would just like to import a Mp3 then try and add some different beats to make it sound more of an electro/house version, which software you think would be best for that? Razz

You could use Audacity for that, provided you already have the electro/house beats. You could try Ableton Live instead which allows you to fully use it for a whole month, I believe. Then it's back to demo mode (no saves).
