New Reply messages that don't exist... |

Recently I've been getting quite a few notifications from the site that say something like "Topic Reply Notification - Autumnal Equinox 2011" and then will have the following message (for example):
Hello,
"You are receiving this email because you are watching the topic, "Autumnal Equinox 2011" at electro-music.com. This topic has received a reply since your last visit. You can use the following link to view the replies made, no more notifications will be sent until you visit the topic.
http://electro-music.com/forum/post-338227.html#338227
If you no longer wish to watch this topic you can either click the "Stop watching this topic link" found at the bottom of the topic above, or by clicking the following link: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-49223.html&unwatch=topic
--
Thanks,
The staff of volunteers at electro-music.com"
When I click on the link I get an error message like this:
"The topic or post you requested does not exist"
This is just one example...I've had it happen on several different posts and in some instances it will reference one post but the link - if it works - will put me in a different thread..
Doesn't happen all the time - just occasionally. Any idea what's happening? Using Internet Destoyer 9 /Win 7 Pro. _________________ Dave

That happens when a post gets deleted, iirc. I've had it a few times too lately. _________________ Weblog! |

Yeah, what happens is that spammers post in the newest threads, or the threads near the top of the forums. One or the other, depending on their script (or if they are a human). Inappropriate replies (such as spam) are fairly quickly deleted. Unfortunately if you get notifications you might get ones for the spam. Rather than have you log in expecting something topical and be greeted with some advert for sexual enhancement pills, you will get a "topic not found" error instead. It means we're doing our job. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

Ok - that makes sense. Have you guys been noticing a greater influx of spam recently?
Hats off to you guys! Keep up the good work! _________________ Dave
