Does this baby look alright to you??

I have been wanting to build a basic sequencer for experimenting with my WSG and as a general purpose simple sequencer for some time. I noticed the baby 10 is a simple, robust design and easy on the components, so have made this stripboarded 8 step version. I was hoping someone could cast an eye to check for any obvious mistakes... As far as i'm aware it's o.k
The ledresistors aren't valued as i will work that out as I go, the pots aren't connected but the positions for them are on the board, and the rotary switch is fairly obvious. I was also wondering if I could use 1n4148s in place of the 1n914s as I have 1000's of 4148s but only a few of the latter.
Once again, I'd be grateful of any support. ( I love this site, it just gets bigger better and cooler every day ( aaah, gee.))
I've recently breadboarded the Thomas Henry linear VCO using the 8038 and had some nice tones and frequencies from it, substituting the 5000pf capacitor for a 47nF ceramic gave me a bigger frequency range. She throws some nice shapes on the oscilloscope so I want to eventually BB that one too. The JPeg of the sequencer is below for anyone interested, cheers for now,

i builded also 1 .. i have to look at my one, i think there too mutch diodes but i will look...

There's a wire link coming off pin 2 of the 555 which seems to go nowhere.

don't know what I was thinking!?! I started the soldering, I also noticed that there's a link that seems to join one part of track to it's adjacent space!

( ear 5 near middle of board.) Demented.
1 thing, Can I get away with 1n4158's instead of 1n914's? I'm guessing I can but hmmm, (ask the Masters...)

Excellent news about the diodes, thanx again.
I've just got hold of two of these babies as well ( see below).
All those lovely sockets ( and in 8's!!.)
These computer interfaces aren't half good for project housing.
The WSG i built this summer was made from an old BBC B interface Very Happy

Cant wait to get started on this one ( sound of hands rubbing together.)

Here's a picture of the sequencer so far. the nest of wires off to the left is the connection for the pots using scrap ribbon cable split into groups of three.

Always comes in handy that stuff...
