Hi!
I have tried to install ChucK on my ubuntu linux netbook, my files seem to run, but I get no sound.

I tried
Quote:
sudo apt-get install chuck jackd
as suggested here:

http://t-a-w.blogspot.se/2007/05/using-ddr-dance-mat-as-musical.html

and when i ran jackd -d alsa in a separate terminal while running chuck the files seemed to run fine, but I heard no sound! Confused

Then i found this (old, i realize that..Smile) post:

http://booki.flossmanuals.net/chuck/_draft/_v/1.0/installation/

that said that you needed to install build-essential,bison,flex,libsndfile-dev,
libasound-dev and/or libjack-dev...

so i made sure those were installed. Then i compiled from source, as described here:

http://chuck.cs.princeton.edu/doc/build/

but when i run the example files on that page they run for a while, then give: Oh, wait, it works!!!!
Awesome!!!

So installing those dependencies and compiling from source made it work.
Cool. I used 'make linux-alsa' when installing. I was getting an error message that was distracting me from hearing the really low sound that my computer was generating, namely
Quote:
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'RtError'
upon hitting ctrl-c to exit. Don't know why this happens, but my boat is floating and alls good.

I'm going to change the title of this post, and post it anyway, maybe this will be useful to someone... Very Happy [/code]
