Pd Patches for controlling your G2 Subject description: Do you want to control your G2 from your laptop? |
|
|
I do not know if this is of any use to anyone with a G2.
It is a Pd patch for controlling your G2 over midi.
It works fine with my setup.. a MacBook running OS X ver 10.5.8 and Pd-0.42.5-extended.
To use the patch you will need Pd-0.42.5-extended installed on your computer. All you have to do is unzip the file and double click the file G2_Midi_Controller_ver1_00.pd . At the bottom of the screen on the left hand side is a box marked pd help , if you click it you will find some hints on how to set it up.
My G2 has keys but I don't see why it should not work with a G2 engine.

G2 Midi Controller 2
Another Pd patch to control your G2.
I found this one best suited to making presets for a specific slot and variation [with the midi out also being sent to a midi recorder]. It can be used for general performance but things become chaotic as it is easy to get lost.

Is it possible to build sequencers in PureData?
I've given up on trying to build a reliable and flexible song sequencer in the G2; I was going to do a ground-up C++ sequencer but my time is limited and skills are atrophied. PD might be an option. |

It must be, PD is just "tesco value Max/Msp" and you can build them in that. Only dipped my foot in the water of PD and it is kind of cool but the interface sure looks ugly compared with MAX. But if you're doing IOs development etc then PD is a good way to go. _________________ iP (Ross)

I'm kind of new to Pd [only a few weeks], but I think it should be possible.. have a listen to mrcold he does amazing things with Pd..

I have a small simple sequencer I'm working on, I'll finish it and then post here. |

This is a Pd patch which is a simple sequencer for the G2.
The sequencer uses the Pd object qlist which reads the test.txt file which contains time-tagged Pd messages.
The sequencer is able to control the G2's patch level and variation selection for each slot.
I have included four simple G2 patches and a text file as a demo.
If you unzip and click on the sequencer_01.pd file, then click on the pd help box you will find an attempt to explain the text commands.
