LFO SLMS Question |
|
|
I just finished a LFO from the Sound Lab Mini Synth and so far it
is working fine.
But switched to Rectangle waveform (S18),
the waveform can still be influenced by the switch (S16) with
which you choose the waveform when Triangle is selected.
I didn´t expect this, so here is my question:
Is this behavior normal?
Or did I do a mistake? |

Hi El,

Seems to be normal with the LFO from the original SoundlabMini.
Have a look at the SoundlabMiniPlus Schematic Page5.
The LFO uses a 2-pole switch for S18, and there is a note why this was changed from the original Mini.

S18 has been changed from a SPDT to a DPDT in order to insure that when you switch to "Rect" wave oscillation the diodes that cause ramp or sawtooth oscillation are not in the circuit. Formerly if you switched to "Rect" modulation with R16 switched to ramp or sawtooth, the Rect(angle) wave would be so narrow that it was ineffective for modulation. Now when you switch to "Rect" the LFO emits a square wave.

Thank you Eberhard!
And of course for the hint with the Soundlab Mini Plus, too! |
