Nomad is running very well on a raspberry pi over a wifi vnc connection using the standard build raspian OS, so with a cheap wifi usb dongle and a class compliant midi interface Ive now got a wireless micro modular, which can connect to any computer over vnc and edit my nord, the ipad is pretty usable.

I have to do this over my home network using a router at the moment so its not so portable, you cant use it without a network, anyone know much about setting up a direct vnc server/client on linux so i can just connect directly to the raspberry pi from another wifi enabled computer? Im quite new to linux

Hey, not to be gravedigging or anything, but I am actually going to work on this right meow.

I believe that you can get any standard wifi adpater and have the raspberry pi act as a wireless router in AP mode, then you can just connect to the raspi network from any tablet, laptop, or smartphone via wireless.

I'll probably end up mounting the pi inside of the chassis right between the mainboard and the power supply (I have a G2).

I'll update this when I get it working...

I did eventually get this to work on the original pi, although I've now upgraded to a pi 2 and have not implemented it yet on this new set up. Not sure what I did as it was a while ago...

Also using matchbox window manager made nomad run a lot faster on both pi's. I just make it automatically load the terminal and nomad on startup.

Add in a cheap audio interface and you have pure data/fx dsp also!

If you get stuck give me a shout Ill dig out the old one and see what I was running.
