Hello all, I have recently started building an 808 clone using the microlarge PCBs. I have just etched the PCBs and start soldering the components on the voice board. Since the eight-oh-eight site is no longer, there isn't much info about this project. I am just wondering if anyone has anything to warm me about. I know it's very general question, but please share any useful info or links you might know of for anyone else who might be working this project. Thx!

So I got all three boards completed with the components soldered in. However, It seems I only have the cymbal working. I trigger it without any pots in and it sounds perfect. When I trigger any of the other voices without pots, I get nothing. Is this to be expected?

I wired up the perc board with all of the pots and switches and still don't get any sound. I tested the ICs, and I get + and - 15vcc at the correct pins. Also I tested most of transistors and diods and everything seems ok.

I am new to this and not really sure what to test next. I refuse to give up but feel a bit stuck. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I haven't built the MB-808, but I had a go at building the 808 bass drum, and I as far as I can remember, it needs to see a voltage on the accent line to trigger. Try attaching it to 15v temporarily if not, and seeing if it triggers then.

Well... yes. A circuit that is only partially completed most of the times will not work. I am surprised you get the cymbals sounding at all, but I have not looked at the schematics. I guess you just were lucky?
