I am looking for a relatively cheap model of synthesizer hardware (preferably analog), but I don't really know whats out there. Any suggestions?

This post is a year old but just in case anyone clicks on it, like I did...

About the cheapest analog keyboard synth you're going to find is the Arturia Microbrute. If you hate mini-keys its big brother the Minibrute is not much more expensive and has full-size keys with aftertouch. However, both synths have only 25 keys so you might want to play them using a different keyboard (via MIDI) anyway. You can probably find a Micro for around 200 USD or a Mini around 300 USD.

There's lots of interesting new analog synths closer to the $500.00 mark these days.
