Hi
Looking for some help on where to buy the rotary switch for my planned build of a pair of Digisound 80-7a filters. The construction notes specify a Lorlin 2 pole 9 way switch which I have been unable to find in the UK. I talked to a tech at Lorlin but the specified Lorlin RA shaft assembly and 2 pole 9way wafer is not in production, they can make me one for £100 but that's a bit expensive for me ! I have finally got a pair of 3320s and 3335s and am itching to get them made. I built the 80-7 (SSM version) many years ago and forget how or where I solved the switch issue then
Any help will be much appreciated.

The schematic at http://www.digisound80.co.uk/digisound/modules/80-7_files/80-7A.pdf shows only a 2-pole 7-position switch. If this is your filter, it may be that the original used a 9-position switch since that is what they had available. If you only need 7 positions, then any switch with 2 poles and 7 OR MORE positions would work. You can either avoid any unused positions, or arrange a mechanical stop

For unusual switches like this, I suspect they may be what are called "Wafer Switches". These comprise of a switch mechanism that you can stack wafers onto to build a more complex switch.

If you search on Farnell for wafer switch you should be able to find some of these products. The mechanism has a washer that controls how many steps the switch has, typically from 2 to 12. Add a couple of 12 way wafers and you are out about £20 inc VAT, so a lot cheaper than a custom switch from Lorlin.

Regards
