How rare is the G2X? Subject description: ...and how much do they usually cost? |

I've decided to take the dive into getting my first Nord keyboard, and I think that the Modular G2X makes the most sense for my workflow.
However, I don't see any G2Xs on eBay's completed listings, or on Reverb / SearchCraigslist. Did they not make very many of them? Usually I can find some evidence of one selling in Japan or something like that, but I swear if I hadn't seen the G2X on Nord's own website, I would think that it didn't even exist.
The regular-sized G2 and rack G2 are a no-go - the reason I'm looking so closely to the G2X is the 61 keys (with aftertouch) and the three mod wheels.
Is it futile for me to be checking online periodically for a used G2X? |

The G2 family unfortunately wasn't a big seller for Clavia/Nord anyway (hence their reluctance to finalize the OS in terms of bug-fixes and officially announced new functionalities) -and I assume this applies more than doubly so for the G2X model. I base my second assumption on the fact that synthesists/knob-twiddlers don't need a 5-octave keyboard (and often appear opposed to it for spatial and logistical reasons), and conversely performing keyboardists rarely require the synthesis capabilities offered by a modular environment. (Unless they are madmen like me. )
At the apex of my G2 addiction I owned four G2Xs -two bought new and two second-hand. Their serial numbers were all beneath 500. I doubt there are more than that.
At this point in time, I assume that all existing G2s (regardless of model) are owned by fiercely dedicated users who won't let go of them if they aren't absolutely forced to. All G2 models seem to be rare nowadays. |

Haven't been in here for quite some time, six years to be precise..
Anyway, I recently bought a G2X here in Sweden, which makes it the fourth time I own one! (Two G2X, one G2E.) But that's another story..
They are very hard to find, at least here in their native land, and the prices have almost doubled since I sold mine in 2010. I paid €2200 for it, and that was probably a good deal, since it only had one previous owner, was never gigged or toured, and is in absolutely mint condition. I've seen ads here where the asking price has been thru the roof, but still they were sold the same day..
Note: the keys on the G2X are weighted, which makes them infinitely better than (in my opinion) the toy-like keys found on the G2, and various other Nord Leads.
Hope you find one!

I think Tim is right that people tend to hang onto them now, and if they were not huge sellers then that creates limited supply.
I have a G2 engine that I bought new in 2005, and I will not part with it. It has not had much use of late as I retired my rack from my gig rig (MIDI keyboard and rack replaced with a Korg Kronos), but I hope to give the G2 a blast soon for some inspiration on another project. _________________ Regards
