Well, I never thought it would happen, but.. I have finally obtained a G2X! It is being shipped from the UK soon.

The new synth has v 1.62 OS on it; my others have v 1.4. As a Windows user I don't have a need for Mac compatibility, and my Nord PC is running XP. Is it possible to downgrade the OS from 1.62 to 1.4?

Also... is 1.62 especially buggy compared to 1.4?

You may not have to downgrade it from 1.62 if you don’t want to… I got a second G2 that has 1.62 loaded and was quite surprised that the 1.40 Editor on two different WinXP computers (with older USB drivers) seems to work just fine. I haven’t used this configuration much though. I normally use a 64 bit Windows 7 Pro laptop loaded with the 1.62 Editor and the 64 bit USB driver, which also seems to work just fine with my G2X loaded with 1.40!

IIRC, the only new problems with 1.62 affected Apple OS computers. That was discussed in the G2 1.62 announcement sticky thread. I don’t think there are any new bugs with the 1.62 OS. But it still has the same old bugs that are in 1.40… Rolling Eyes

Thank you Varice - that is great news. I thought they were all mutually incompatible, and that versions have to match. I will just plug it in and turn it on when it arrives.
