The G2 Engine arrived... looks great, but immediatly upon connecting it was apparent that it is quite noisy. I connected outputs 1 & 2 and there is a background hiss noise that is loud enough to be a problem. Is this a common issue with the G2?

I switched the cables to outputs 3 & 4 and they are fine, the noise is not there. This may be workable, but every single patch needs changing to use the new outputs.

Any info, ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That is a great question, I will try it out.

The USB cable and audio cables were previously connected to a Waldorf Streichfett (same midi and audio interface, just replaced the Streichfett with the G2 using same cables) and there was no problem. The Streichfett has moved to a new place in the studio.

Noise on Outputs 1 & 2, but not 3 &4… that is odd…

How about the Headphones output? It is a stereo mix of Outputs 1 & 2. If the noise is not there, then you could use that instead of the 1 & 2 output jacks. Caution: the Headphones output level is much louder than the Output jack levels, and the G2 Engine has no Master Level control, so be sure to reduce the patch levels before listening with headphones.

Outputs switched back to 1 & 2 and the noise is not there anymore. Have no idea why, but it sounds fine now. So happy about that.

Next up is to figure out why some patches sync to DAW master clock while others won't, they go quiet. I am having fun with the G2!
