Hello,

I am sorry if this does not belong in this section but I have been trying to build this circuit form the book Chaos and Complexity in Nonlinear Electronic Circuits

and I can not understand what the line in the middle is referring to in regard to the LF398 in the schematic, it does not look normal but I have also only been looking at schematics for about a year now and do not really know how to proceed further. Any and all help is truly appreciated!

thanks!

That's a bit vague yeah .. but looking at the data sheet .. on the left side of the LF398 symbols:

the top line must be the digital input (pin 8 for the P type package),

the middle line the analog input (or just input, pin 3 for P type package)

and the bottom line with the capacitor to ground then must be Ch connection (pin 6, again P type package) - for the holding capacitor.

I've usedthe TI data sheet found at https://www.ti.com/product/LF398-N

Can you still buy these? they look old-ish .. hmm prolly you can ... data sheet was revised oct 2018 .. and nowhere it seems to say obsolete .. nice chip!

Mouser still carries them -- I used them in my Source of Uncertainty clone.

You can even get them in metal cans, if you want.
