Subject description: Anyone owned / used this unit?

Hello,

I'd be grateful for comments from anyone who has used / owned the Klemt Echolette S. There's one on the shelf of a local audio repair shop for about 90 GBP / 140 USD, full working order. I've read great things about it on the net and I reckon it could be the ticket not only for guitars and vocals, but also for G2 synth and VSTis. My main concern is maintenance: is replacement tape easy to find at a reasonable price? Is routine cleaning / maintenance straight forward?

Cheers

Thanks Seraph, I checked those reviews before posting. I'm more or less set on getting it but my main concern is finding replacement tape at a reasonable price. BTW there's one on ebay.de - 161 Euros with about 8 hours to go.

It is very easy to make your own loops for this echo machine. I haven't had this particular type, but had a few others. Get some good (preferably new) 1/4 inch tape, cut it to the correct length, make a good splice (practice!) and insert it.

There are no 'official' or original loops for this machine that I'm aware of; if there are, I would not use them cause the tape is already very old and probably not too good. You can still buy new 1/4" tape (for instance at Thomann.de) for under 20 euro, and with some splicing tape (search the net or use 3m scotch magic tape) you can make a few thousand loops for very little money.

Looks like a 5 on the case but it's S (important detail if selling) 500 - 700 what? Canadian dollar, Euro, Hong Kong dollar? If you're talking US dollar, I reckon you're being a bit optimistic. As far as I've seen, the going rate in Europe is about 200 - 300 USD. Probably will fetch 600 USD in ten years time.
