It is genuine extreme DIY because, for those who do not read French, this guy also made himself all the tooling machines that can be seen on the video including the vacuum pump...

Yeah that is one of the nicest things I've seen on the web in a long time - wonderful "slow" educational stuff, beautiful craftsmanship...

All he needs now is to start making his own glass from the sandgrains up, and mine his own ore for the various metals... Wink

Must be incredibly gratifying work...

He'd have to build some mining equipment first , though. Oh crap! How's he supposed to do that without ore? Maybe just use his hands?
