nord lead 2 *problem*: infinite sustain Subject description: arrrgh! |
|
|
hello nord enthusiasts!
i'm writing in regards to the nord lead 2 i've owned and gigged with on a regular basis for over 5 years. i love this instrument dearly, and discover more and more about it every time i play it. i've had it long enough to learn how to do basic (mechanical) surgeries and periodical cleanings.
lately, however, it has begun "locking" notes into an infinite sustain. oddly enough it only happens with patches on 'Bank A', but will do the same to any bank or patch dialed in after this happens. the effect is as though the 'release' knob were cranked all the way to 10. (or maybe even 11?)
the note does break when i hit the panic button (shift > panic); but will immediately revert back to full sustain mode upon the next note-on. this has happened on stage more times lately than i would like. i have no choice but to reboot the instrument on the spot, or else the result is total chaos.
this used to happen on rare occasion, and would "heal itself" whenever i would reboot; but lately it has been happening much more frequently, which displeases me greatly.
has this happened to anyone else before?
if so -- any potential solutions or ideas...?
regards,
neil |

neil,
sounds like a keyboard problem to me as I had it with the Nord Modular (Classic). I ended up replacing the keyboard (after trying to repair it a few times). _________________ Jan

I guess the good news is that AFAIK it's a fairly standard keyboard, Wout will have the details once he chimes in here - or so I hope _________________ Jan

Pom-pom-pom-pipy-dom...
Anything to do today?
Let's chime in on e-m.com...
Well, well...
Better to check with Calvia support, but I think the keyboard is a http://www.fatar.com/Pages/TP_7BA.htm.
Hmm...
The link doesn't work, so better surf from http://www.fatar.com/
Replacement is easy to do. I probably know how to open the synth?
Also, hanging notes also will stick their heads out when the synth is receiving to much Midi data. Better check this first.

could a hanging note really be a mechanical issue?
it seems like it's more in the processing end of the synth, than the keyboard mechanism...
as far as midi data, that definitely makes sense.
is the nord's midi system something i can feasibly "disengage" ? |

By pulling out the MIDI cables I guess and see if the problems stays or goes away.
And yes a keyboard can cause hanging notes when the key contact makes but will not break, which is the problem that I had on the NM. And that's much more likely than the software of the machine having changed _________________ Jan

I should make contact with Clavia first. They can tell where to get it, if it is the right one or maybe... they send you a new keyboard, after payment, I think
After all this forum isn't the help desk

I would suggest that you check the distributor part of clavias website and locate the distributor in your country...
That should give you a chance to get your hands on a brand new keyboard |
