My original binary up/down post seems not to have survived the server change. No great loss, it was overly complicated by attempts to compensate for compilation order and/or input racing problems. This new version is (a little) simpler and incorporates a jump to step function.

The counter itself (green) has a separate input for up and down counting. The (yellow) clock section uses a switch to route the main clock to up or down inputs based on the state of the direction lfo.

If you stop the clock, the (purple) preset section allows you to jump directly to any of the 8 locations. In Rnd mode, you can jump to random points automatically (variation 4). Not sure how useful this is.

The two pulse delay modules in the clock section are required to prevent input racing, which results in multiple counts on the most significant bits.

I am assuming that I had better luck with this version because of the fixes in Ver 1.24

Lets hope that Ver 1.26 makes it redundant because the step sequencers finally get direction control.

Thanks for posting this, Ian. It's very interesting.

What happened to your patch? It didn't survive the move to the new server. I didn't know there were any problems related to the switch. Please fill me in, thanks.

I don't know what happened, I had fiddled with my copy of the patch and wanted to see if the 1.24 changes made a difference to the original.
The post is there but no attachment. It is an old post, perhaps it went missing before the change over. I don't recall deleting it but I could be going crazy (very possible).

Maybe try and go observe weather systems for a while, it worked amazingly well for me :-)

Jan.
