flip flop toggle confusion

the two toggle methods I know of seemed to have stopped working in a patch I was constructing. The second attatchment is an example of how they are supposed to work. The first is the malfunctioning version. Any thoughts or solutions would be appreciated.

Load in slot A. The first flip flop is supposed to toggle with every gate, the second is supposed to toggle with every other.

I tend to just use the clk input for a toggling FlipFlop (the output changes state on the clk positive edge). The second flipflop mode seems to double duty as a SR or JK, depending on what inputs you use.
It becomes difficult to diagnose logic in a poly VA as the LED(s) only reflect the state of the last voice.

I had tried this before (clk only) but still had problems...the one you uploaded led me to realize that the toggling problem was generated by having a high polyphony (10 voices). I don't understand why the polyphony would make a difference though. thank you for the help too.
