Starting from discussion over there, we might delve deep into the secrets...

All the best,

To start discussion here, I did the following patch.

It shows that the internal busses are 20bit only, (including FX) while the normal, in-area signals have 24bit width.

Somebody had this already?

I ran over that while trying to encode three note values in one signal by shifting bits.

It´s also a kind of tutorial for binary arithmetic. Or rather a challenge, you decide. Smile

We can guess now for what the other 4 bits are being used...

/Marcus

Edit: It´s pretty confusing confusion at the moment. Sorry!
Seems I got the number representation wrong!
See new patch below.

no...thats new info...
some people wont be happy about this... I personaly care so much...but especially when using the busses for sequencer stuff it runs into the kind of problems you just have.
Its good when the instrument gets explored in such detail...

A look inside...

http://www.sequencer.de/clavia_synthesizer/clavia_g2_modular.html

Mabe this belongs to the Wish List:

Although I find it a clever design decision to use 24kHz for control signals,(where in computer music 500-1000
was thought to be enough some time ago) because this way the sampling frequency is above the hearing range
and you don´t to have filter it out or interpolate when doing amplitud mod ..., it´s also a waste for processing
slow resolution MIDI, note data, CC...

I would like to have another type of signal with ~3 kHz resolution.
Maybe another MIDI-area for this.

You could have 8 times more processing with the same DSP.

Really universal midi processing elements, filters, data sequence (incl.sysex trigger), ... maybe like that
MidiModular by Blue Hell I will have a look.

I will probably spend 160.- Euro for the MidiSolution event processor to help me with some of this.

And the interslot MIDI... this should be fixed and extended too.
In the meantime, it´s possible to do multibyte coding/mux over the busses, bandwidth is there, for
techniques see in the Building Blocks Section.

Any more info, somebody?

What are the exact Processor, RAM, ... specs?

4 Motorola 563... 150 MHz? Control Processor 40MHz?

/Marcus

I have to read the manual!
I have to read the manual!
I have to...

Sometimes it´s more fun to experiment.

Or dig this:

Fractional and Integer Arithmetic using the DSP56000 Family of General Purpose DSPs, Motorola APR3/D
http://www.soundart-hot.com/files/developer/pdf/motorola/APR3.pdf

Ah, now I see. 2 bit on bus are used to give some headroom for
summing from multiple senders. -12db pad setting may help.
