Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

I sometimes find myself surfing the channels on my TV with the remote. I have found myself coming across Fox News and watching for a minute to see what the dark side has to say. I think of myself as open minded and always try to look at things objectively.

My brother, David, posted something on Facebook suggesting people do not watch Fox News. He pointed to this little video. Don't watch this whatever you do! It is disgusting.

Well, I hope you didn't watch it. I have used the parental control V chip on my TV to block Fox News. Whenever I surf, the TV automatically doesn't show Fox News. It's as though someone went into the studios and sprayed the entire staff with hot shut-up rays.

Now, things in my life are much better. I'm more relaxed, optimistic, and my finances and health are improving. I have transcendental experiences routinely and I downloaded a great new upgrade of Bebot.
banana wow! party! dancing Ohm...

I saw on Keith Olbermann's program a video that showed Fox's Bill O'Riley call the now murdered Doctor Tillman a baby killer, a murderer, the operator of a death mill, and worse about 24 times on the air in the last couple of years. By any standard I can think of, O'Riley is partially responsible inciting someone to commit that murder.

Exposing oneself to Fox News is like encountering vomit in the street; It's best to avoid it if you can. For the benefit of yourself, your kids, and everyone else in your household, block Fox News on your TV.

Join the movement to stamp out obscenity.

In the Netherlands we have one TV-station that aims to copy the Fox network. All their promo's are aimed to scare viewers, with warnings like "your kids are the next target" and dramatic music etc. They also braodcast loads of rumor related showbizz news and entertainment crap.

I don't watch too much TV, otherwise i might follow your lead and delete the channel from my program guide Cool

People seriously musn't forget that any news is subjective!

I don't own a television. I gave them all away and never looked back. Fox News, Reality TV, commercials... it seems to be so destructive to society. In particular, I have noticed that during the past 15 years, young people 25 or below have become meaner and nastier every year. Not everyone and maybe not you in particular, but as a general social trend my observation is valid.

Reality TV teaches them to victimize others for their own reward and to reward the victimizers. Commercials increasingly assault the mind with psychologically programmed messages designed to capture the attention of an audience over-saturated with violence and abuse. And CSI and other shows of its kind have warped the minds of people to the point that they don't seem to even understand that violence is wrong anymore.

It's sick, it's twisted, and it's evil. I'll never watch TV again!

Les

I had to stop watching that video after about 2 minutes. Surprised I stopped watching the Fox Network a few years ago, cause I didn't like the general attitude that the station was putting across. But now with this 'greatest hits' of anti-Obama'isms, I'm just about floored!

The human race is suffering already enough from mind control - but the few examples that I saw in those couple of minutes of news / propaganda casts from Fox are almost mind-numbing!

When you have the Fox Network, you don't NEED a mind. Fox thinks for you. Surprised

Becoming tempted to put a red circle with the slash across it with 'Fox Network' inside, on my bulletin board. Evil or Very Mad

I've got satellite - DirectTV, and there are so many frikkin' channels, I have to program in the one's I do watch, or I'm lost in a sea of useless information. Fox has never been programmed into my remote, and never will be. Just looking at it makes me feel nauseous - I am not kidding, I actually feel like I want to throw up. It's the Anti-Scott . Laughing

Anyway, back during the election, 236.com, which sort of parodied that viewpoint (billed itself as "unfair and unbalanced") described Hannity as an "effeminate Fred Flintstone", so now I can't see a pic of the dude without giggling.

My problem is radio. Holy cow. I have to have speaking (non-music) radio to sleep - dunno why, but I do. For years I listened to "Coast to Coast AM" which is a show that deals mainly with a lot of goofball stuff (the good kind) about ghosts, poltergeists, shadow people, UFOs, Area 51, you name it, it had it, plus the occasional "real" show with a physicist or astronomer. It held my interest, but I'd never get past the first half hour or forty five minutes before I fell asleep. It was on an FM station, but it recently got moved to a "sister" station on AM. This sister station is the home of Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, and the rest of the Fox-like nutjobs. I can't listen to Coast to Coast because the commercials for these wack-nut shows make my blood boil. Obama this, Socialism That, blah blah blah blah blah. Coast to Coast was replaced by a show similar to this on the FM station. So I cruise the stations (in vain), and that is all I can pick up, and I'm not kidding. Every station I can tune in is either sport, religon, or whack-nut eliminationist spew like Fox. The other night I tuned Coast to Coast in, and even there I only had to listen to twenty seconds of it before I heard some guy chuck out the word "Obamageddon". Leaping fucking lizards, you can't escape it.

I hear a lot of neocons at work gripe about how the MSM is so liberal, but I just don't get it. Evening MSNBC is pretty "liberal" (and Tom, I have no idea what your point of reference is for calling Olberman a right winger, other than you have people far to the left of him), but that's just about it. MSNBC tends to cherry-pick what works for them; Fox just flat makes their shit up. The rest are too lazy to do anything but regurgitate what they read off the blogs (it seems).

I'm with Inventor - I'm ready to get rid of all my squawk boxes. Jeez, I'm sick of the lot of it.

But, a man's gotta sleep... Confused

And I totally agree. Also newspapers in this country, even the so called 'respectable' ones, have largely fallen from grace, and are becoming far more sensationalist. Britain is hell bent on security. 1984? Orwell was right. Shocked

I hardly listen to radio either. Radio 4 has been infected with middle-class sensationalist garbage too.

Where's Bill Hicks when you need him? Crying or Very sad

Laughing, well unless I have him confused with somebody else Shocked , I mean exactly what you have just pointed out! The 'left' have become the right- if you see what I mean?

Adam Curtis recently did a short with Olbermann featured in it. It was rather disturbing. If you can get hold of the recent Charlie Brooker series (from BBC 2), they were featured there (I lied, I have the BBC iPlayer! Embarassed )

There are many TV programs that are worthwhile. The History, National Geographic, Discovery, PBS, Turner Classic Movies, NASA, Science, and a few other channels.

It's not entirely bad, and in many cases TV can be beneficial.

This is true, I should not throw out the good with the bad. In my case, however, during my schizo episode of 2000 I thought the TV was interacting with me through hidden cameras and microphones. Very disturbing. That's another good reason for me personally not to watch it. Krazy man, krazy! Smile

Discovery Channel aka the "Deadliest Catch" network. Question Question Somebody must watch a LOT of that show because it seems to be on nearly every time I check.

NOVA on PBS tonight was about the paleontologists in Australia who discovered a whole skeleton of Thylacoleo, a carnivorous marsupial that seems to be somewhere in between a wombat, bear and lion. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/bonediggers/

Oh ... and right-wing propaganda ... did you know some of the crazies on the right are trying to claim that von Brunn (the Holocaust Museum shooter) is really a liberal? It's a hoot. The argument goes something like this. He hated Jews, and liberals hate Jews. Oh, but that's not all. He also hated Christianity -- he just couldn't stand the fact that the peaceful religion of Christianity supplanted the "warlike Germanic gods."

Let's see now...

Neo-Nazi paganism is anti-Christian.
Liberals are anti-Christian.
Therefore neo-Nazis are liberals and liberals are neo-Nazis. Liberal criticism of Israel is the same as the neo-Nazi wish to exterminate Jews. And so on and so on.

If that's a syllogism, then I'm Greta Garbo.

I have to hand it to them for creativity. Never in a million years would I have dreamed that up!

James
