Mars Equinox signup thread |

Event to be held on the electro-music radio on Saturday the 22nd of March 2014
Also see the event page in the wiki.
If you are interested in performing, please copy/paste this Sign-Up template in the thread:
1.Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time):
2.Artist Name:
3.Location: (City/State/Country-Optional)
4.Electro-Music.com Username:
5.Description: (Style,Genre,Tech,Whatever)
6.Website Address:
Sets are 30 minute each - first come first served
First Time Streamers Please Read:
Please review the Electro Music Copyright Policy
Please note: "Preferred Start Time". We will do the best that we can to accommodate people to their requested times. However, please be flexible because this event will have European and American musicians in many different time zones. Time slots will be on a semi-"first come-first served" basis. Furthermore, please post your time in GMT. The handy clock should make it simple. However, we do use military/24 hour time. It will undoubtedly be an international event and GMT is the only way to coordinate such events.
As in the past, the chat room will serve as an invaluable communication tool for set up, streaming, and connecting to those listening....and it's just a lot of fun! I suggest participants get familiar with it in advance, if you aren't already.
If you want a recording of your set, it would be prudent to record your own set, rather than depend on others. Accidents and mistakes happen...especially in this format. There are many ways to record your set, either thru the stream app or record your stream from your mixer on the signal path to the computer.
Performers MUST stream at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz , stereo .
It is IMPERATIVE that everyone test their connections before we start streaming. At least 24 hours before or sooner. Sorry, but musicians WILL NOT be allowed to stream on Saturday if you do not test 24 hours before hand. Not only does it delay the schedule, but causes unneeded stress on performer, server operator, and audience during performance time.

1.Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time): 1400 or 1430 GMT
2.Artist Name: Kevin Kissinger
3.Location: Kansas City, Mo.
4.Electro-Music.com Username: kkissinger
5.Description: Another installment in my evolving use of my modular synthesizer for live, improvised music
6.Website Address: http://kevinkissinger.com
My current direction is to use the modular synthesizer as a kind of "spontaneous composition tool". I've customized many of my modules so that the synthesizer works seamlessly with my Looperlative LP1.
This allows me to pursue pseudo-randomness -- that is, I can use seemingly disconnected "events" as the basis for music that, over time, tends to coalesce.
Another part of my approach is to create tonality based on randomly chosen micro-tonal pitch sets. I like to create this "harmonic world" in an incremental fashion such that the listener may not be fully aware of how far he/she has acclimated to it (until a return to the conventional 12-TET world).
I like to blur the line between what the machine is doing and what the performer is doing. In many cases, the performer and the synthesizer share control of the music making. For example, when I play a note on a keyboard I know that notes played on the right end of the keyboard will generally be higher than notes played on the left end. However, the exact note played by a given key at any given time is not clear.
I really appreciate the opportunity to perform on these streaming broadcast events and am grateful for the effort and support from all involved.
I may integrate my K2600 (digital synthesizer) into the program, too. _________________ -- Kevin

Great! Welcome as a new streamer!
The best way to get set up is to join the chat and ask for help there. I personally recommend BUTT (no sniggering please!) for streaming, but there are other broadcast tools. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

Thank you & cool! I know I have edcast lying around (set up once, but unused), though I'd be interested in trying BUTT as it's a new kid on the block, open-source and in development (vs. being totally dead). I'll grab it soon and deploy.

(btw: the documentation on this site regarding the streaming process and tools has vastly improved over the past few years. It's sincerely appreciated. Thank you!) |

Welcome back aboard Shane! Nice to see you sign up.
We havent had quite as many participants sign up this time, so it is possible that some of the early and late entries will have to move forward/back (back/forward?) a little. Lets see what happens. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

This is a temporary schedule since only 12 people signed up this time... Let me know ASAP what you think, and if you want to perform for an hour, that should be fine. There will therefore be some reshuffling, even if you are happy with your slot but I'll do my best to accomodate everyone as much as possible. Just keep an eye out for changes in this thread during the next few days.
As you can see, there is a break in the middle (at least for now). People will be able to perform in this slot, but only if they are able to do so without a radio operator to sit in during this time. You should know how to connect using sc_trans if you are interested in this. This is an experimental test for events of this kind, to see if in future events we can maybe make do with less ops.
Temp schedule start times (all times GMT):
Kevin Kissinger - - - - - - - - - - - 14:30
redgreenblue - - - - - - - - - - - - 15:00
Ganzha - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -15:30

OK that's good.
Also to reduce stress during the event for performers and ops alike, can everybody test their ports in good time before saturday please? _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum
