PHOBoS - MASHED POTATO SOUP
Recorded on Jul 6, 2012

There was some loud construction noise outside and to make the best out of it I turned on the outside microphones
and started adding sounds using mixere, which resulted in a 4 hour improv.
Quote:
Mixere is optimized for live performance, and especially for creating live sound collage. Conceptually, it’s like a rack full of CD players connected to an automated mixer. Mixere's features include dynamic looping of audio, auto-triggering of audio, fully automated sliders, "soft" (gradual) mute/solo operations, crossfading between documents, and unlimited undo.

A Mixere document consists of a number of tracks, each containing a single audio file. Any number of tracks can play simultaneously, subject only to the limits of Windows and sound card performance. Audio is streamed directly from disk, so there's no limit on audio file size, and no waiting for audio to be loaded into memory.

Mixere's interface is similar to a spreadsheet. The rows are tracks, and the columns are properties which can be adjusted for each track: name, transport (play/pause/stop/loop), mute/solo, volume, pan, pitch (+/- one octave), and audio position.

It doesn't have a PFL option and a lot of the loops I used have names that don't really say much about it (like beat34 or synthloop12) so I didn't
really know what something sounded like before I mixed it in. However some are in seperate folders or have a name that makes clear what the
tempo is, so this way I could somewhat mix things together in sync. Also most of the samples have names that give me somewhat of an idea what
it will sound like. I usually don't make a lot of use of the auto functions since it's a bit CPU hungry but random pitch change can be a fun effect.

I cut some parts out mostly from the beginning because the outside noise was just too prominent and I made some level adjustments.
The result is a ±3 hour continous mix which will be was streamed in it's entirety on Sat Aug 09, 2014 @ 2000 GMT,
and afterwards uploaded in two (radio friendly) parts. Cool
