Rumours are pouring in.

As I just got 7.2 its probably a definite.

Still I am enjoying 7.2, 3 days of use and not one crash, fantastic.

I have one problem though, loading appleloops and EXS24 patches the first time takes absolutely ages 30 secs to a minute, the mds process uses upto 100% cpu when this happens.

I have rebuilt the spotlight index.

Any ideas on this?

Cheers

Andy

I don´t use Apple loops ( not yet though ). EXS24 sample sets are fastloading here, but when importing other formats, EXS will create exs file sets and this does take some seconds or minutes depending on what you have.

I´m possibly using 7.2.3 on the G5.. at least the latest update that made any sense to install.. Very Happy
On the Macbook I´m on top. Very Happy
This is an macintel and thus the latest is probably the smartest.

I´m basically using EXS24 with samplesets I have created myself. Some of the larger ones will take a few moments to load, but it seems like the blink of an eye compared to Cubase/Halion on the G4.

BTW: I´m using Logic with the RME fireface 800 interface. Very Happy Happy happy joy joy

Thats interesting, I thought the problem may be an intel 7.2.3 problem.

There is another guy on the logicprohelp forum with the same problem, i will ask hime what machine he is useing. Maybe its a MacPro issue.

Cheers

Elektro, Do you know if there is any way of using my old PCMCIA VX Pocket card in the new MBP's? An adapter or something?

While we're at it, what's available for the FW800 port too?

All the MBPs have FW 800 ports! Grab an RME now!

There might be PCMCIA adapter solutions available soon for the ExpressCard slot. However, I have seen that some would go the way of ExpressCard ->PCI bus in external cabinet and then a PCMCIA connected to an ATA card. Shocked Senseless! Another issue is drivers. Frankly I don´t think there will be any really inexpensive and working solutions for you anytime soon if ever.

Right.. but Universal Audio already has an excellent ExpressCard interface for those UAD-1 cards!

Digigram's OSX drivers were never their strong point. Which is odd because the OS9 one was excellent Twisted Evil

Another one for ebay.

Oh yes, I bought an old Yamaha MD8 the other day- excellent condition, for £120 Very Happy

8 tracks onto Datadisc in digital with an excellent analogue mixer front end. Sweep eq's and inserts on 2 channels. Let the good times roll! Cool

Yes- I think so. Well I found them for sale here (and in the US) a couple of days ago.

I used to own a Tascam 564. In fact most of the forth side of Ice cream vans was done on it, except the last track- which was a Fostex D80. The D80 was unbelievably noisy- which was strange. Both the Tascam and this MD8 are noiseless. I like the 'grittyness' of the ATRAC compression too (although you don't really notice that after the FX sends.

I mastered Ice Cream Vans at Abbey Road Studios (EMI) with my old Sony MD deck. The engineer was 'blown away' by its sound. MD was a very underrated medium imo.
