Subject description: how does it work?

Does anyone know how those Foot switch/Sustain pedals that uses 1/4" jacks work? do they just short the tip and sleeve? Confused If so it would be easy to make one... Rolling Eyes

In a word, yes. That's how they work, by shorting tip and sleeve.

However, some work by un-shorting the tip and sleeve.

Depends on whether it is "normally open" or "normally closed".

well, good ones do. Wink

Otherwise you have to check. I have some pedals, identical ones, but one is normally open and one is normally closed. I always have to look at the label on the bottom. I have a box of footswitches...
