Hi team, this is some spam about my exhibition of lunetta bots that's on at Deluxe Cafe, 10 Kent Tce, Wellington, NZ running for 2 weeks starting Monday. If there are any forum lurkers in Welly, come drink some of my booze on Monday night from 7.30!

Mostly though this post is a broad and heartfelt thank you to the community here. It really is amazing to have a committed core of helpful knowledgeable people all on the same wavelength, even if we're all separated by 10's of thousands of miles. There's no way I could have designed these critters by myself.

There are a couple of photos and a video on my website, and hopefully in the next day or two I'll have my big granddaddy Lunetta ready to show off. FYI the circuits I've used are a 4-stage 4093 gated oscillator, 4017/4051 melodygen, 4040/4051 tone sequencer, and the little baby bots are 4069 LP filters.

Cheers!

VERY NICE Mr Decibels! VERY NICE INDEED! It's great to see someone interpret this in a fresh new way! Very Happy And your entire visual package is unified and, well, simply stunning!!! Nice poster and collection of droids... Laughing The photos are great!

Hopefully this will inspire others to make an effort VISUALLY and put circuits into well conceived enclosures Wink .

I hope the exhibition goes well for you! Good luck!

Mr. Minus thanks for the kind words. All the aesthetics are the responsibility of my co-conspirator Lance Ravenswood. He is the chief enthusiast for the project and a space cadet in the best way. Dr. Offset if you can make it down on Monday night please do come and introduce yourself, it's a lonely world for us lunetics!

Great stuff rich! Some great sounds from those - and I like the enclosures! Can't wait to see and hear the grand-daddy.

Cool stuff rich! I'm slowly working on a series of robot/UFO inspired paintings myself and I'm in the process of re-housing my lunetta as well.

Your work brought a much needed smile to my weary, diaper-wars laden face. Always fun to see other artists' work Smile !

Holy moly, astonishing response on opening night - packed out from the back wall to the street! 80% sell out in the first hour. Photos of more of the bots online here.

Grin grin grin grin grin...

very nice and inspiring work Rich! Just checked your pictures and seems like you already sold a load of those cool little bots. So they are all standalone devices based on cmos ic's?

I wish I could have dropped in, but sadly Im on the opposite side of the globe Sad. How did people react? Where they mostly interested in the robots as a work of art or as a functioning piece of musical equipment?

Going into it I had no idea how people would react; I was fully prepared for a mass 'Huh?' but the responses were so enthusiastic! I think most people where impressed with the sheer novelty of it, to be honest. The musicians in the crowd were very easy to spot, my little lunetta got a lot of attention from them. Also the 8-step sequencer is very musical so that got a lot of play. I think the cuteness of the enclosures made people a bit more open to the noise in a way.
