Help me find the music i like |
 |
|
Hey,
Never knew much about electro music, being a classical music musician myself. When i was a kid, i grew up listening to eurodance, i loved it, it was simple and positive.
Now i have kind of a problem trying to find the music i like. For instance, i find a song i really like but then when i check the other stuff from that author, i do not like it. I do not even know what genre i am looking for since there is more than one. I like the songs that sound really evil and powerful and sound great when you listen to them on hi-fi with great bass. Often i hear a car go by cranking this music and i almost start dancing to it. I do like parts of psytrance/goa remixes but only small parts, others i cant stand. I will give you a few examples so maybe you can point me in the right direction:
1) Edward Cybered - forget your past - I really like the songs wrong game, dark athena (that evil part ... !!) and Nosferatu. I can't explain it, they simply sound so evil and powerful to me.
2) "hard techno" mix First song is remix of Dark Athena, a bit faster and harder, that part at 2:40 ... omg ... i only like like first 10 minutes of this mix because then it annoys me and gives me a headache. It reminds me of Schranz, but Schranz is to fast for me
3) Edward Cybered again Such sinister beginning, like out of the horror movie .. and then when the beat begins ... i just love this transitions. Sadly, all other songs on the album i simply do not like. I am guessing this is psy trance/goa ? But with harder bass, i guess that is what i really like.
3) Edward Cybered again .. Actualy i only like the part from 3:25 to 4:30, but you understand what i mean
4) T87 Grizzlor It's 7 minutes of banging but sounds kind of powerful
5) fatboy slim - right here right now Different from all the rest but i like it, that is, the part with violins |

I can't help directly, but I can offer my own personal observation. That is that it's difficult to choose music for another person even if you know them well. I don't fully understand why I like each individual piece that I pick and there is a plethora of parameters.
I understand about the one hit wonder thing. I was very disappointed at a "best of" CD from Blue Oyster Cult. Only the one song "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" was any good. The rest sounded like some other unrelated band.
For me, finding the music I like has been an effort of listening to everything I think might be interesting. Sure, you will spend time listening to some music you don't much care for, but you will also build a library of titles that you do like. _________________ FPGA, dsPIC and Fatman Synth Stuff

Thank you for your suggestion,
It's kind of catchy but to "soft" for what i am looking for. Not that the song is soft or anything but its really down to personal taste. Songs i posted, prolly arent any harder than this but to me they just sound so sinister.
I will have to do the homework like JovianPyx said, will simply have to listen to some mixes on youtube. But i am not even sure what genre to look for. If i type in techno or hard techno, mixes differ so much between them, its like completely different genres. I tried tech trance, i tried psy trance .. but its just different. If u listen to death metal and u type in death metal into youtube, ur gonna get death metal, not i dont know, power metal, the difference is huge. But in electronics it seems the borders between genres are a lot smaller and 2 songs from the same genre can sound completely different.
Any input is still welcome |
