I've recently taken an interest in CMOS / Lunetta style synth circuits. There's been some interest in trying to identify this circuit which was used for a noise pedal and eurorack module. I suspect that it was adapted from a previously circulated schematic and that one of the chips that has the top thoroughly sanded off is some type of CD40xx chip. I'd like to try to breadboard something up along these lines. Does it look familiar to anyone?

Here's a link to a demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Prgk0ieZpbE

It's very difficult to tell without a schematic. It looks like a resistor might be connected to pin 16, which leads me to think that it might be a chip with a weird pin layout like the 4049 or 4050.

I would recommend asking the creator, but he obviously doesn't want people to know if he is going through the hassle of sanding down the top of the IC.

@Cynosure Thanks for taking a look at it. Do you think it's a 4049 or 4050 because pin 16 is usually V+? When I looked at the pinout for 4049 and 4050 it says NC for pin 16, so would a resistor really be connected there?

Oh! You are right. Maybe there is another CMOS chip with an odd pinout.
