I found this rather excellent freeware ASIO driver which works well with the SigmaTel High Definition Audio used on Intel Macs;

http://www.asio4all.com/

I haven't put this in the links section- as I felt that it would be easily overlooked.

The ASIO4all is good, but tries to skirt around the problem by using an ASIO front end to a WDM backend driver.

There are SigmaTel ASIO drivers out there (My sony has VERY good drivers, but are released to me by Sony, so I don't know off hand of generic ones). But you should try to find real ASIO drivers if they exist.

Well yes I know that, but the problem so far that I haven't found a better solution for this Macbook Pro's existing drivers. Audio and stability on this Mac, although it's okay, isn't wonderful either.

suggestions?

I swallow my words. ASIO4ALL has died on my Mac Laughing

That'll learn me for getting all worked up and over excited!
