Subject description: need CLAVIAM1.dll

Can anyone help me find this support file : CLAVIAM1.DLL?
The Clavia site does not seem to list legacy downloads.

I have dug out my Modular Rack Classic after several years (how did I survive w/o it?), and want to update to the 3.03 editor and firmware. First, I need to backup my onboard 2.10 patches. I am using a new XP computer, and do have a copy the 2.10 editor that I used to use, but did not backup the dll, which seems to be required to get the old editor to run.
The new 3.03 editor apparently does not need this old DLL.

This is one of those take-three-steps-back-to-go-one-step-forward stories.

Thanks for any assistance!!

welcome to the forum M&T.

I just uploaded the original 2.10 install exe file to http://files.electro-music.com/g2patcharchive/NM2_10b.exe , hope that helps.

Just to be sure, the windows version.

Jan,
I appreciate your quick response. I ran the installer and that put the DLL in its place. When I open the 2.10 editor I no longer get the "can't find the DLL" message, but the editor still won't open. It tries for about 5 seconds without opening the screen, and then gives up. I wonder if that editor is compatible w XP? The midi tester, which also was needing the ClaviaM1.dll, does work now.

I'm not sure what to try next. I'll have to dig deeper in my backup disks, to see if I can find copies of my patches now in the modular. Then I could just erase everything when I load the new firmware.
Thanks,

Neil

Hmm, the 2.10 editor runs here, under XP SP2 and I can edit patches (a few weeks ago I could). I did not try to connect to an NM - I would have to downgrade the OS first. You could try to set the compatibility mode for the editor. Right click on an icon that starts it up, select properties and go to the compatibility tab.

When that fails I'm affraid I'm out of options as well.

When it does work however it might be a bit troublesome as well to find a working MIDI connection (the usual trouble). In the past people have reported good results with the midiman 2x2 - with recent drivers and it needs the editor to be in some compatibility mode as well (for me at least).

Re. the compatibility mode people have been reporting to have success with win98 mode and with win2000 mode, but that was for the 3.03 editor.

I don't have the guts to recommend anything, but just in case you want to buy something new ... recently I bought an Edirol EM-3 MIDI interface that works good for me under XP SP2 with the 3.03 NM system.

Hope there will be something useful for you in this, good luck !

Or maybe deinstal and re-instal the editor software, something might have gone wrong by trying to set it up manuall first. I'd also delete what the deinstal doesn't remove - the default folder to remove would be "C:\Program Files\Clavia\Modular\" . I'm not sure where the settings are stored for the 2.10 editor, it would be good to delete thise as well in case a failing MIDI driver causes the program to not start - it shouldn't

Anyway, probably it wont really help but its something to try at least Wink

Ok, the settings are kept in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Clavia\Modular - the MIDI settings are in the App1\Midi subsection of that.

Jan,
I don't know how or why, but I did get the editor to start up once, so I took that opportunity to save all my patches. Hopefully, I won't need that 2.10 program ever again. I did not know about the compatability preference setting - that might come in handy again sometime.

My MIDI connection seems to be OK - I am using an old MOTU micro express. This is the first time I have hooked it up to a windows machine, but the drivers are working without problems.

Thanks again for all your help. Now I can get back to programming some sound effects for an upcoming production of Peter Pan.

Brilliant Exclamation

(I might have gone testing for why it would work to never be able to get that close to the patches again Laughing )
