welcome assaf.

This sometimes happens unfortunately with the NM. If you have another MIDI interface you could try that, or you could try to find newer drivers for the MIDI interface. When you're running under windows XP you can try to set the editor's compatibility mode (by right clicking on the application or a shortcut to the application & going through properties). It can also be a bad MIDI cable.

I might have forgotten something, have look at http://nm-archives.electro-music.com/010_NordModular/018_FAQ/ as well.

Hmm...

I just checked this page, Jan, and we should edit most of the links there...
The FAQ itself is still functional, of course.

You are using different ports for the MM(Editor) and Cubase?
It has to by separated systems...

Did you get your editor workin ok with Cubase?

If you're still having the problem when using the W98 option, try reinstalling your midi drivers again.

Also check to see if there is an uodate for your midi port drivers.

This is what works for me... maybe it will work for you.

Just run it as a normal XP program (ie. no Win 98 compatability mode) but change your processor scheduling to Programs (in System Properties -> Advanced -> Performance -> Advanced) before you open the MIDI ports in the editor; then when the editor has found the NM1, switch it back to Background Services. You will need to do this each time you start the editor - or keep your PC's processor scheduling set to Programs if you don't use it for audio.

XP uses the Programs setting by default. I've often wondered what the system performance would be like if I used Background Services instead of programs, but never tried.

ASIO and other audio drivers work as background processes so making the switch to Background Services is the single most effective tweak for audio you can make to an XP system. If you make music on your computer with this set to Programs, switching to Background Services will probably transform your music-making.
