I have some chips SAD1024 (analog delay line).
With these chips I would like to make myself a pedal DELAY for my guitar.
Someone let me know where I can purchase the Kit,
or where I can buy a PCB with schematic that use these chips?
thanks

Hi Synthones.

I found this article

Scroll down the page and there is a schematic.
I don't know of any ready-made PCBs, but another couple of useful sites for guitar fx diy are;

geofex and tonepad

hope this helps,
cheers,
Dave

This chip is pretty rare these days so it might be tough to find a project for it with a PCB. The A/DA flanger used this chip at one time, so there are probably some clone projects for it out there somewhere.

There seems to be a zip file with the PCB files and everything for that delay here:

Hi numbertalk
Thanks for your infos.
Well, I hope to find a broken A/DA Flanger, also.
Otherwise, I hope to succeed in building a PCB or purchase it from someone who already built them.
Regards

Hi Stephen,
Yes, I think that the schematics are very interesting.
However, before building a new pedal I hope to find a PCB in kit or a broken pedal that use a SAD1024.
Thanks still for your contribution

SAD1024's are a poor choice for guitar delays.

I'd sell the 1024's and buy an MN3205. One MN3205 = four SAD1024's as far as delay time is concerned. Plus, there are pcb's available for 3205 based delay pedals.

I'd hang on to the SAD1024s for flangers, no other BBD to touch them.

That's why it's so sad to see them burnt up four at a time in old Memory Man pedals.

Save them for flangers or sell them to flanger builders.

What characteristics make these SAD1024 BBDs better than any other BBD for flanging.. is it just that the shorter delay time is less useful as a delay? Or is there some real advantage specifically in using them for flanging?

Thanks for your time.

They just sound so good to me, and do I think have a potential shorter delay time than other BBDs - especially when the clock is well buffered. I have heard a unit pushed into Thru Zero Flanging using just one SAD 1024 and a few tricks!
