Im super stoked about the OS upgrade i'll be getting on my Nord Lead 1 this week from a 1.6 to a 2.7. FYI, I'll be walking miles to the music store with my nordlead in the freezing weather, but if thats what it takes i dont care if my nose and ears freeze and fall off as long as this baby is maxed out performance and function wise.

I read the manual and found some of the differences between the two and they include,

1. Increased polyphony from 4 to 12

2. Notch Filter added

3. Drum Kits added

I think there's some more things added but i couldnt remember exaclty. If anybody knows of any other upgrades besides whats stated above, a reply will be very much appreciated.

Thanks !!

I don’t know about the Band Pass Filter..
Arpeggiator has more possibilities, like Random and Echo
Panic button (KBD TRACK in Filter)

Well, I never worked with V1.6, so I’m not sure about these last three items…

Thanks for the reply Wout, or should i call you Dr. Nord ??

Yea i tried out my nord when i got home and found out about the Ran App and the echo function on LFO2.

I was also surprised to find an additional filter , the secret filter, besides the notch filter when pressing the shift and filter type button, like the nord 2 and 2x.

And im not going to lie, i was in denial about your comment regarding the voice expansion, so i tried numerous different ways to test the polyphony. Polyphony is still 4 .......

I guess my next move will be to get and expansion board.

Thanks for the info !!

More important, the expansion makes it possible to store Performances and Percussion files. When using a keyboard Lead Performance mode is rather important.

These are the differences I've found so far, after upgrading from 1.6 to 2.7:
  • percussion modes
  • added arpeggiators (echo + random)
  • arpeggios can be sent as midi out
  • keyboard octave shift (as well as the regular slot octave shift)
  • "notch+lp" filter
  • demo play (press shift+sync)
  • expression pedal is assignable to LFO, filter, FM etc. (instead of just replacing mod wheel)
  • panic button (shift+keyboard track)
  • capable of formatting PCMCIA cards
  • performances may now also contain exp.pedal assignment and aftertouch assignment
  • recieving aftertouch

Does anyone know if the keyboard split feature of the lead 2 was ever added to the lead 1. I believe it never was.

Special if you assign Velocity to Osc2 Pitch. You will hear a rising or falling Echo depending on a positive or negative Morph...
