I wonder if it is okay to use a switched power supply to the modular synths or if there is lot of unwanted noise when you use one?

Cheers.

It is very easy to get a lot of unwanted noise. Linear supplies are easy to come by (or easy to build). You *can* do it, but for a proper analogue instrument, it's not a very good solution. If you are building an entirely digital synthesizer (not a modular), it's appropriate.

At one point I would have said go linear, but switch mode supplies have gotten really good in recent years. They are smaller, cooler, more efficient, and when properly implemented, are plenty quiet for modular synth stuff.

Thanks for your reply CMB.

I think I will build a MFOS "Wall wart" similar power supply, relatively inexpensive and simple construction, it was just that I have an LED Drive at home that´s giving + / - 12 volts

Cheers.
