No sync between machines, but I usually set the clock of each machine to the same tempo. Although, now that I think about it, I should try different integer multiples of tempos...

I play all synths simultaneously. I just improvise which patches I'm playing at one time. The last PH, I didn't use anything (other than fingers) to hold down keys, although I sometimes use metal picture frame clasps.

Haven't gotten around to the soft WS yet, but now I'm thinking maybe I should make one volume of PH about soft synths. Sometimes I come up with memes for the show, although I haven't followed any of my meme ideas yet.

I sent the joysynth back to you, should be there in a few days. Looking forward to handling a fully functional stick.

OK, that sounds just wrong, but you know what I mean. Razz

LOL, yeah i know what you mean, hehe

Tempo syncs: Thats what we do, setting different integers of the same tempo. Since we can't run a master midi clock over the range, we cant really sync (as far as i know). Sometimes i wish everything was tighter, cuz the timing can actually vary quite a bit...but over all, guess i like it a lil wonky.

Metal Picture frame clips: HA!! Thats a good one!! Very Happy Used to use heavy metal files, screwdrivers to hold keys down, then duct tape (ended up too sticky after awhile). Now i'm just using multiple footswitches and hold buttons.

We have pretty similar techniques for performances i'm thinking...

Cool, i've got a stick all done up (unless it doesn't fit the board) for a replacement. Let's get Les's board runnin at full tilt!! Cool

Back to the studio...later!

Audio:
Working on your synth now.......

Do you want it in a self contained unit, or are you good with the break-out box?
i think Les did a beautiful job with the box and wiring, might be cool to keep it as is, nice and clean. This way if you want to mod it, it'll be much easier.
If i place it into a different stick, it'll be quite spaghetti-fied, and much more difficult to fix if theres probs in the future.

Up to you..i can do either. He just did such a clean job on it, that it's a work of art within itself.

Just a couple wires came loose...most importantly, looks like the common ground wire came out, which is prob why the buttons didn't work right.

Alright, it doesn't matter anyway.... Les has the boards secured VERY tight on here. i think it'd risk breaking if i was to taking them off.

Have all the wires in place now.....and HOLY COW, do i love this thing!! Very Happy
It's a screaming noise beast.
You kinda gotta toy around with it a lil bit to get acquainted with how to work it...but when you do..cool!!

i'll be taking some video tomorrow and posting it.

Funny you mentioned that..since i just joined Facebook, i found the artist that did it, and he was like..whoah," i was just talking about that tat few weeks ago".

It was both my first tat, and his first time doing a tat (16-17 years old). We didn't know much about how to do tats (pre-internet). He did it with a RAZOR BLADE...cutting the outline into my skin and wiping ink over it. Shocked
The shading between the wings was done with a walkman gun by some crack head i didn't know.

AHHHHH...the good ole days....lol!!

That's cool! The finish on that joystick has me thinking about star wars storm troopers... Posted Image, might have been reduced in size. Click Image to view fullscreen. I think it's their psycho-sonic manipulator device - it may well be that's exactly what it sounds like Very Happy

Was even thinking of knick-naming it "The StormTrooper".
i have a buddy who's a big Star Wars geek, and he has friends with full Trooper costumes....was thinking of setting up a pic of a ST with this thing.

It could also use a nice mount/base to hold it down, as it wobbles and shifts when it's being played.

Tat with a razor blade... you're a braver man than I, bro. I don't have any, but I admire a good 'too. My gf has three and on her last b-day, my gift to her was money to get her next one, as she wants several more. She has a wetwork guy, so it's just a matter of nailing down a time to do it.

Yeah, the throw on the stick is pretty long, and takes a lot of pressure when going the full range. Whats crazy is this one actually has a larger base than %90 of the sticks i have. If the tension wasn't so extreme, or less of a throw, it might have been more stable.

Thinking on the next one i build will be something more like this.....
it has a wide flat base, and the stick has less of a throw, and it's still smaller than this one.
Going to try modding a stylophone up to it.

^^ I suspect that arcade style joystick only has switches, as in no potentiometers in the stick(?)

Edit: clarification.

A power flip in the back and a rocker switch on top. I don't think the rocker switch is connected. 1:11 can tell us if it's supposed to be.
