CGS29. Attempting to test. Need some help.. |
 |
|
Hi Everyone again.
In the process of building my first modular (CGS) I have assembled the CGS29 Wave multiplier. I have read through the Description of how to use it but I am a bit baffled about testing it.
Could someone please explain to me which I/Os to connect to..
If I plug a tri-wave into the lockhart in, sure enough I get a tri or square out of the Lockhart outs... But plugging an LFO into triangle in doesn't do anything nor do the fold pots...
Connecting the F-out to my mixer/amp setup produces a very quiet output..
Also, where do I plug the grinder out...
Basically I would like to ask if someone can help me to set up the board properly..i.e tell me what ins and outs go to which I/Os on the board . I have read Ken's description but I am a bit lost...
Please help!! _________________ There's a crack in everything...Thats how glue manufacturers make a living. |

My Wave Multiplier is setup to have 3 discrete sections:
Wave Multiplier:
- Triangle in/out
- Square in/out
- Folds CV in
- PWM CV in
- Offset CV in (the offset CV pot will also have an effect without anything plugged into it)
(Note: the Folds, PWM and Offset only pots affect this section)
Lockhart:
- Input
- Triangle out
- Square out
(Note: the Lockhart pot only affects this section)
Grinder:
- Input (preferably a sine)
- Output
(Note: the Drive and Lag pots only affect this section) _________________ Sneak-Thief - raw electrofunk |

Hey µbase,
This may sound silly, but your post kind of reminded me about when I built this some years ago... It was one of the first things I built, and I'd had it in the rack since I built it, but never really thought it was that great, seemed ok but not as amazing as i thought it should be... Anyway, at some point it ended up in a box and just recently I picked it up and thought 'what the hell was that about'... Turns out I hadn't put any of the wire links in place on the PCB... 5 minutes later and "oooohhh, right... that's how it should sound!"
Not really suggesting that is the problem, just an aside really, but you did put them in?! hahaha! (I say all that but the latest version is double-sided, so ignore me!)
And yeah, consider it as three modules really... Which PCB version do you have? _________________ http://loudestwarning.tumblr.com/ |

Hi! Well heres an update. I have version 2.
Since I posted I've done a bit of fault finding and found that there was a dead solder joint between the triangle wave input resistor and the lm324 pin 2. I fixed this and after found out that the CA3080 was dead. Luckily I have some more CA3080s so I inserted a new one and proceeded to be blown away by how bloody amazing this module is!!!
Putting an audio range triangle wave into the tri input and a slow square wave into the sqr input with a triangle LFO produced some blinding results and this is just one trillithird of the possibilities of the board!!!
I filmed a demo of it but its a little distorted due to the phone mic being a bit overwhelmed:
