This was the first Polysynth that I attempted to build, it's taken about 3 years and has gone through many iterations. It started out as a Crumar Stratus and the intention was to replace the top divider system with genuine oscillators. I started to use Electric Druid VCDO1 chips, 12 for 6 voices and a dual DCO like the Stratus. Unfortunately it got a bit out of hand and I then started building new filters, envelopes, LFOs etc and about 3 version
s of a programmer later and 2 iterations of filters followed by AS3340 VCOs and back to VCDO chips I ended up with this monstrosity. Pictures shown are actually the AS3340 version with a PWM LFO added and the later finished VCDO version.

The Stratus got some new solid beech end cheeks as well which makesi t heavy, but the steel framed keybed from Crumar has been removed to reduce weight.

6 voice polyphonic
Dual DCOs with 16 main waves and 32 sub oscillator waves per DCO
3x ADSR per voice for pitch, filter and amp
16 waveform LFO with slope, delay and multi/mono retrigger
24db filters with pole mixing, LP, BP, HP, notch, 16 combinations
Polyphonic glide
Bit crusher
999 memories of all parameters

All built on proto board into the Stratus chassis.

wow!
that looks fantastic , i watched the video link great stuff, i have a couple of the vcdo's (frequency central / electr druid pcb's) in my blue diy modular system , they are great for tangerine dream - exit album style ppg style sounds .
i noticed a little led screen above the wheels , is that for patch storage? .
Very Happy

Dave.

Thanks for your response, these VCDO chips have modified firmware which fixes some of the glitches, adds a sub osc detune and duplicates some of the more useful waveforms from the sub osc into the main. Not my work, but it is available to flash yourself.

There is a colour screen just above the mod wheels to the left and that's where the 999 memories are programmed, the right hand screen controls the 16bit midi to CV board but to be honest I never need to change it so I might blank that side off one day.
