Calendar Event: June 22, 2024

oh look it's almost June again, where does the time go,. really, where does it go ? is that what black holes are for ? Or is it those pesky langoliers again.
speaking of time, it's time for another pagan ritual where we dance naked around a bunch of rocks or if you rather just make some music that's ok too.
you can do that naked as well and even do it with a bunch of rocks.

This ritual will be held on Saturday June 22nd, 2024 and live broadcasted to electro-music radio.
It will start somewhere around 15:00 GMT and end when the music's over or when we run out of participants to sacrifice, whatever comes first.

The schedule can be found in the wiki and threads to previous events can be found here.

As always, if you are interested in performing or just want to be sacrificed, please copy/paste this Sign-Up template and post in this thread:

1. Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time):
2. Set Length (30 or 60 minutes):
3. Artist Name (For displaying on the poster):
4. Chat Name (if different from artist/forum name):
5. Location (City/State/Country - Optional):
6. Description (Style/Genre/Equipment, etc. - Optional):
7. Website Address (Optional):
8. Anything else you like to mention:

For reference, this clock could be useful:

First Time Streamers Please Read:

Please review the Electro Music Copyright Policy

Please note: "Preferred Start Time". We will do the best that we can to accommodate people to their requested times. However, please be flexible because this event will have European and American musicians in many different time zones. Time slots will be on a semi-"first come-first served" basis. Furthermore, please post your time in GMT. The handy clock should make it simple. However, we do use military/24 hour time. It will undoubtedly be an international event and GMT is the only way to coordinate such events.

As in the past, the chat room will serve as an invaluable communication tool for set up, streaming, and connecting to those listening....and it's just a lot of silly fun! I suggest participants get familiar with it in advance, if you aren't already.

If you want a recording of your set, it would be prudent to record your own set, rather than depend on others. Accidents and mistakes happen...especially in this format. There are many ways to record your set, either thru the stream app or record your stream from your mixer on the signal path to the computer.

Performers MUST stream at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz , stereo.
more info about broadcasting on radio.electro-music.com can be found here.

It is IMPERATIVE that everyone test their connections before we start streaming. At least 24 hours before but sooner is preferred. Sorry, but we can not guarantee that musicians will be allowed to stream if you do not test 24 hours before hand. Not only does it delay the schedule, but causes unneeded stress on performer, server operator, and audience during performance time. Join the chat room for testing and help setting up.

note: This might be the last regular event I organize or at the very least I'll take a break.
This means I am currently not planning to set up a September Equinox event.

1. Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time): Anytime
2. Set Length (30 or 60 minutes): 60 minutes
3. Artist Name (For displaying on the poster): Kevin Kissinger
5. Location (City/State/Country - Optional): Leawood, Kansas USA
6. Description (Style/Genre/Equipment, etc. - Optional):
Analog modular, K2600 digital, Wren software synthesizer
7. Website Address (Optional): kevinkissinger.com
8. Anything else you like to mention:

My most recent work has been to explore contrapuntal textures that are the result of multiple sequencers that are time-synchronized to each other.

Each time I accomplish a streaming event I imagine other things that I can do -- often things that require me to build equipment to accomplish specific functions. Since my last set, I have built a new sample/hold module with internal voltage-quantization/mapping. This will allow me to manipulate sequencers and melody generators in real-time while in selected tonalities (which can be changed in real time). I anticipate enhanced functionality in the future so what I do for this program will be driven (somewhat) by the equipment that I have working at that time.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in these streaming events. I will do my best to offer you music that is an immersive, hypnotic, kaleidoscopic journey with moments of beauty.

I missed this one, unfortunately, although I planned to perform this time ...

I was busy preparing my tomorrow's concert for the closing day of Mystic Mountain Festival (https://mysticmountainfestival.com/) and I'll make a final rehersal of my main system today in a hour or two.

But I plan to make another rehersal of my backup system later in the afternoon. I just checked my "hrastprogrammer" port 8082 and it is still active and working flawlessly. The duration of the concert will be slightly above 2 hours, so I can start my afternoon's rehersal around 14:45 GMT and stream it on my port. If anyone wants to make a switch and stream it for June Solstice, well - be my guest Smile

Just post a note here if you are interested in this ...

Warning: Techno-Logical electronic music created and performed on my Tranzistow x48 synthesizer Wink

Here is the recording of my set.

I made a mistake in my configuration and was unable to capture a recording. Fortunately, PHOBoS did capture a recording of my set and was able to send it to me. Thank you, PHOBoS!

As usual, I made some minor EQ tweaks and am posting the MP3 here. I also captured video of this set and will post it in a day or two.

This set was a first run-through with a couple of new devices that I built. One is a multi-channel quantizing sample-and-hold for my modular synthesizer. The other is a corresponding module for MIDI. (Note that WREN has corresponding functionality). This enabled me to keep everything: that is, the Aries sequencer, Klee Sequencers, and the Octatrack Sequencer (used for MIDI), matched up to specific scales and modes. I would say these modules are still in the prototype stages yet I was pleased with how they performed for this first live, real-time set.

Thanks to all that support these events: the organizers, stream operators, performers, and listeners.
