[G2] Ableton Live 5 |
 |

Users of Live 5 may be interested to note that the MIDI Automate module now works corectly with the G2 at OS 1.32 plus Live 5.0 . So you can use a 2000Euro hardware synth as a MIDI controller should you desire
Set up your Live preferences such that:
Prefs/MIDI/Input/device porting MIDI data from G2/Remote=ON for remote control of Live (this gets the data in)
Prefs/MIDI/Input/device porting MIDI data from G2/Track=ON if you want to record your note playing skills also
Prefs/MIDI/Output/device porting MIDI data to G2/Remote=ON to get the MIDI data updated back to the G2. This was the bit that was wrong before. It didn't work and although the collars changed if you altered a Live parameter on-screen with a mouse for example as soon as you touched the knob on the G2 it jumped back to the last knob position instead.
last but not least
Prefs/MIDI/Output/device porting MIDI data to G2/Track=ON so you can play the G2 using MIDI clips in Live. |

One more thing which may be usefule for Ableton live (not using automate).
It involves being able to assign a g2 panel knob to one thing (for example note number - for picking a clip to play in ableton), and a button to control another thing (triggering the note/clip you picked using the knob).
See the following topic for a simple example of such indepedant knob and button assign. Imagine having 8 such assigns, now you can control and trigger 8 albeton tracks.

| In Live 6 beta you dont have to use the automate module anymore. To control the mixer section You can use a simple "8fade" mixer module which let you have independent knob/button assign for fader/mute. No problems with skipping faders like before. |
