I found this one over at the Reading Guide. Jane Griffiths, one of the Reading MPs is pushing for a ban on in-store music…

Jane is using her parliamentary clout to becoming a leading member of "Pipedown", a pressure group dedicated to what they believe is people's right to shop in silence.
She says: "If you had real music it would not be to everyone's tastes, so it has to be unspecific and bland - and I'm not alone in finding that irritating."
If Jane wins her case the piped music in shops and shopping centres - designed to lull people into a feeling of well-being, and in the modd to spend - will be a thing of the past.
